Mutants In The Garden

Well not only has it been a surprise that it has rained today, after nearly a whole week of sunshine, I have found that I have a mutant plant growing in our back garden.

What is happening is that after the main flower on the Pot Marigold has finished and died away , out pop smaller mutant flowers from around the edge. I was a bit concerned about getting to close for this photograph, but I managed to escape unscathed.
However I'm a bit worried about going out tonight to do battle with the slugs, that this mutant might attack. If I don't post for a few days you know something has happened!!!!

Do you have any MUTANTS in your garden????

Hi :)

I have to look up the meaning of the word "mutants" first. ( I am not native English ) I quess we have them not.... This are bad things right? The make rotten your plants... No I think we have them not, I am pretty sure about that.

Beatiful type of flower...

Hi Ruth,
I would guess that they are partying with the slugs....

Hi Joann,
It is not a bad thing , it is me joking as it is not normal for smaller flowers to grow out of the original flower

Hi Laurie and Chris,
You carn't beat well behaved plants...

Cheers Mark

I am sure I do if I could get through the wild natives I have let grow this year.
Butterflies seem to love my weeds!
May you win the slug battle!

Hi Sherry,
Remember weeds are just flowers in the wrong place...I have just been out doing battle with the slugs and they seem to be getting bigger...perhaps the two are linked!!!!

Cheers Mark

Hi Mark,
Some of my chive flowers did this in the spring. The pretty pink flower started to die, and a tall green shoot came out of it with a bud on top, which then opened into a smaller pretty pink flower. I'd never seen anything like it... but now I have!
